March for Myanmar

In February 2021 the Military in Myanmar seized control of the government, arresting the Aung San Sui Kyi and other democratically elected leaders. Within Myanmar peaceful protests have been taking place in response to the military’s actions to try and restore democracy to the country and prevent a complete return to military rule. Security forces have used water cannons, rubber bullets and live ammunition to disperse protesters with at least 54 casualties as a result. There is fear that the crackdown on protests will grow worse.

On the 9th March Cord is launching a period of prayer and action for Myanmar called ‘March for Myanmar’ which the Bishop of Coventry is supporting with this prayer for Myanmar in which he calls for restraint and a need for dialogue between both sides.
