Energy Offer
Direct Access to Competitive Renewable Tariffs
The Church of England encourages churches to buy energy from renewable sources.
We are keen to encourage this across Coventry diocese - with added benefits. Available soon to all of our churches, ecotricity are preparing to offer competitive prices for their renewable electricity and gas supplies. Church officers and clergy will soon be able to contact ecotricity directly for further details. We'll update this page as soon as these arrangements are live.
Rev Tim Cockell, Acting Archdeacon Pastor, chairs the Net Zero Steering group which endorses this initiative. Tim said ‘This offer will bring significant benefits, enabling churches to access energy at competitive rates, to manage energy costs and to curb our carbon emissions. We accept that heating, lighting and power are essential commodities in our outreach to communities. This opportunity to work directly with Ecotricity shows our commitment to Net Zero Carbon emissions, aligning our missional values with careful stewardship.’ Tim continued, ‘This is a real witness to communities who want to know that we care about how we use our resources and who we buy our essential commodities from.’
This offer provides ecotricity with opportunities to focus support to the diocese. We hope it will lead to them providing technical expertise to introduce Solar PV more widely, promoting the Ministry of Eco Education to enhance our schools curriculum and supporting rewilding projects as part of our shared commitment to biodiversity and sustainability projects.
As part of the package available across the diocese, ecotricity will provide dedicated customer support and direct resources into the diocese. They bring their obvious commitment to environmental issues throughout their business. For examples, you can see their involvement with the Green Britain Group here: https://www.greenbritaingroup.com/
At this stage, please feel free to contact our Net Zero Carbon Project Officer via colin.angus@coventry.anglican.org to register your interest or if you have any questions. The home page for ecotricity is here: https://www.ecotricity.co.uk/ and we anticipate they will host a FAQ page in due course.
