Privacy settings

Our Contact Management System (CMS) holds contact details for selected church officers within our parishes, deaneries and diocese.  It also contains the privacy settings that determine whether these details are published in our Diocesan Directory or Public Directory.

Diocesan Directory - Printed version

Before the end of the year, we aim to publish a new printed version of the Diocesan Directory.  This will list both clergy and laity with public roles, and it will also include the contact details of individuals who have given their consent (see below).

The Diocesan Directory will only be distributed to church officers, with the request that it is not passed on to others.  A PDF copy will be distributed free of charge, and church officers will have the option to buy a paper copy if they wish.

Public Directory - Online version

Before the end of the year, we also aim to publish a searchable list of clergy on the diocesan website.

This list is already available via the National Register of Clergy.  However, our own Public Directory will also include the contact details of individuals who have given their consent (see below).

Next year, we will consult other church officers about whether the Public Directory should also include other public roles.

Privacy settings

Privacy settings are stored within our Contact Management System (CMS).  Each postal address, phone number or email address has its own privacy setting, and this setting determines where the information is published.

There are three options:

  • PUBLIC means that consent is given for it to be published in both the Public Directory and Diocesan Directory.
  • DIOCESE means that consent is given for it to be published only in the Diocesan Directory.
  • PRIVATE means that it will not be published in either directory.  Instead, it will only be shared with diocesan staff and a few other authorised users.

We routinely ask church officers to check and update their contact details and privacy settings in the CMS.  Changes can also be made at any time by contacting tim.latham@coventry.anglican.org
