Advent Season 2025 in the Diocese of Coventry
Watching and Waiting is a diocesan-wide Advent resource to help us all join in with Bishop Sophie’s next phase which is called Watching and Waiting together. We have had a listening phase, and we are currently in an immersive phase which includes day visits to every deanery and the cathedral.
Bishop Sophie’s hope for this next phase is that the whole diocese, every person, has the opportunity to seek God and help to discern the future of our diocese. Throughout the Advent season, and in response to the Watching and Waiting resources, the question will be asked: What can you see, as we look for signs of the kingdom?

Watching & Waiting Resources
The resources are suitable for use within families or households, in small groups or individually. Each week has its own theme, featuring a bible passage, a reflection video from Bishop Sophie, discussion questions, the Advent Collects, prayers and a craft activity; exploring the Biblical figures Abraham & Sarah, the prophet Isaiah, Elizabeth and John the Baptist, and Mary the mother of Jesus.
