Racial Justice Sunday 2026 – Love Your Neighbour

Racial Justice Sunday is on 8 February this year. Neil Masih, our Intercultural Mission Enabler, writes:

At the heart of the Christian faith is Jesus’ command to love. When asked what matters most Jesus replied:

“Love the Lord your God…and love your neighbour as yourself” (Luke 10:27)

However, Jesus did not leave neighbour undefined, in the parable of the Good Samaritan, he showed that our neighbour is not only the person who looks like us, thinks like us, lives like us- but everyone in need, especially those who face injustice, exclusion, or discrimination.

To love our neighbour is to stand against racism in all its forms. It is to recognise the dignity of every person made in the image of God. It is to listen, to learn, to challenge prejudice and to work where everyone is treated with fairness compassion, and respect. As believers in Christ we are called not only to pray for justice, but to live it – in our churches, our communities, and our daily lives.

The theme for Racial Justice Sunday 2026 is Love Your Neighbour and resources are provided by Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CTBI). There are contributions from a variety of people including Richard Reddie (CTBI Director of Justice and Inclusion) exploring what it really means to love our neighbour, especially given the current narratives of hostility, fear, suspicion and hatred of the ‘other’.

The resources include:

  • Worship Materials
  • Bible Readings
  • Hymns & Prayers
  • Sermons
