Leading Small Groups


Friday 4 October 2013 (7.30-9.30pm) & Saturday 5 October 2013 (9.30am-3.30pm)


This course is intended for anyone leading, or preparing to lead, small groups, bible study groups, home groups etc.

Friday evening will be "Dynamics and Practicalities in leading small groups", led by Martin Kirkbride, and Saturday will be "Listening Skills for small groups", led by Heather Vernon.


The course will take place at the Diocesan Offices, 7 Priory Row, Coventry CV1 5EX and the cost is £25 (including lunch).

 Bishop’s Certificate in Discipleship 2013-14



The BCD is aimed at developing disciples and resourcing participants in their personal journey of faith.  It specifically reflects the diocesan mission purpose of Worshipping God, Making New Disciples and Transforming Communities.   


Who is this course for? 

BCD is for anyone who wants to explore faith and deepen their understanding and commitment, whether or nor they wish to pursue a call to recognised official ministry.


How does this course work? 

The three terms are Worshipping God, Making New Disciples, and Transforming Communities.  The course is designed for completion over one year.  However it is possible to follow just one term a year and complete over a three year period.  There are BCD centres at Coventry, Rugby and Stratford.

Bishop's Certificate in Mission & Ministry 2013-14


The BCMM is a one-year course that can be taken on its own as a follow-on to the Bishop’s Certificate in Discipleship, or form the second part of training to be a Reader (with a further year to follow).



Who is this course for?

It is open to anyone who has completed the BCD or an equivalent, but participants will need to have the approval of their incumbent to be registered for the course.


How does this course work?

The course consists of three 10-week terms, with teaching delivered at a central weekly evening meeting and some Saturdays. There are also three Retreat Weekends, which will take place on Friday evenings and Saturdays. It offers a simple but stretching introduction to the essentials of mission and ministry through developing a combination of theological and practical skills.
