Cursillo® has been established in the Coventry Diocese for 35. It originated in Spain during the 1930s, hence the Spanish name: cursillo translates as, ‘small course’.
Cursillo® is a method which uses a combination of a 3-day course and ongoing support through a ‘rule of life’ which includes regular small faith groups and occasional larger gatherings. It is designed to help Christians deepen their relationship with Christ through personal renewal and refreshment. Many people have gone on to develop their leadership potential, as both lay and ordained ministers, as a result of the weekend course.
Cursillo® is a lay led movement, under the authority of the Diocesan Bishop. In Coventry the Lay Rector is Jayne Hayward and Bishop Sophie has recently given her blessing/appointed the reverend Jo Parker as Spiritual Director.
