The Revd Tim Cockell has been appointed as the next Archdeacon of Warwick and will take up the role on 16 July.
Tim has served in the Diocese of Coventry for 28 years. He began his ministry in the diocese as Team Vicar of St George’s, Rugby, before serving for 19 years as Rector of St Mark’s, Bilton. Since 2023, he has served as Acting Archdeacon Pastor and is currently Associate Minister at All Saints, Emscote. He will conclude that ministry as he takes up his permanent responsibilities as Archdeacon of Warwick.
About the role
The Archdeacon of Warwick is responsible for supporting clergy, lay leaders and parishes across the Archdeaconry of Warwick. The role combines pastoral care, leadership and oversight, helping churches and communities to flourish as they share the reconciling love of Christ.
The archdeaconry of Warwick includes the deaneries of; Warwick and Leamington, Alcester, Southam, Fosse and Shipston.
Speaking about his appointment, Tim said:
“I am absolutely thrilled to be taking up the role of Archdeacon of Warwick and playing my part in developing vision and strategy for the diocese with Bishop Sophie. The Diocese of Coventry has a big place in my heart, and I am very much looking forward to employing all I have learned from my three years as Acting Archdeacon Pastor in my new role. I am also looking forward to getting to know the parishes and people of the Archdeaconry more fully in the coming months.”
