The annual global prayer movement Thy Kingdom Come returns in 2026 with renewed energy across the Diocese of Coventry, inviting churches, schools and communities to join in the ten days of prayer from Ascension to Pentecost.
This year Bishop Sophie is encouraging us to:
1. Go deeper. Can you pray for 5 more mins a day, pray for a few more names that you would usually, establish a pattern of prayer or a place to pray that begins a daily habit. Add something different, a prayer walk, a time of contemplation or whatever God leads you to do.
2. Pray with others. You might have already planned an event or activity for your parish, church, school or chaplaincy. Might you invite others to join you? If you would like to open your event for others, absolutely no obligation of course, (providing all safeguarding arrangements are in place) please visit our central point of contact to let others know they are welcome.
3. Be bold and expectant. The Bible tells us that God is a good father who loves to hear from his children. No matter how big or small the ‘ask’, pray with expectant hope that God will hear and answer. ‘Keep on praying and never give up!’ (Luke 18:1)
Building on last year’s strong participation, parishes throughout the diocese are preparing a wide range of events—from quiet reflective services and prayer walks to youth gatherings and digital resources—designed to help people deepen their faith and pray for others to come to know Jesus. We are compiling a list of events here.
Please let us know of your event so we can share it. Email communications@coventry.anglican.org.
