Safeguarding leadership module

The aim of this module is to situate safeguarding in the context of the Church, and equip participants with knowledge of state and Church of England legislation, policies, and practise guidance.

Who is this training for?

The leadership safeguarding module carries on from the Foundation Safeguarding Module, or acts as the refresher course. This course is for those in a leadership role (clergy or laity) in the diocese, and covers:

  • Equipping clergy, readers, church Wardens, Parish Safeguarding Officers and other lay leaders to embed healthy parish safeguarding practices within the church
  • Exploring the roles and personal vulnerabilities of leaders in implementing safeguarding procedures
  • How to respond to serious safeguarding situations
  • Case studies and scenarios

Prior to coming on the course everyone must have either completed the Foundation Safeguarding Module (previously called C1) or have completed the Leadership Module (previously named C2 or C3) three years ago.
