The mission purpose of the Diocesan Environment Group is to "inspire, encourage and challenge the people, churches and structures of the Diocese" to engage with its work. Much of our work is to keep pace with the rapid developments within the scientific community over debates and data relating to climate change, issues surrounding biodiversity, and formulating a collective response to current discussions concerning Fossil Fuel extraction and disinvestment.

In addition to engaging with these global and national issues, the DEG also responds to local projects; for example, meeting with representatives from Warwickshire County Council and the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust to produce a Biodiversity Action Plan acceptable to the Diocese and feasible for parishes to follow where appropriate. Our vision is therefore to ensure the DEG’s remit permeates all the structures of the Diocese.  The group has taken much inspiration from Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians, being led to witness to the reality of Christ’s transformative power within creation and ourselves

"…the old has gone, the new has come!  All this from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ…" (2 Cor 5: 17-18).
