'Could you be the Divine Inspiration Photographer of the Year 2008?' 21st May 2008 | Download | Email to a Friend

Divine Inspiration is a project funded by English Heritage and Heritage Lottery Fund, encouraging those responsible for our church heritage to open their buildings with confidence to visitors from all walks of life. Our churches are full of history and the power of place that they afford is to be enjoyed by all who visit.

As part of this celebration of our church heritage we are looking for a ‘Photographer of the Year for 2008’.  The competition is supported by Warwickshire Life and the prizes totalling £800 have been sponsored by Knight Frank (Stratford upon Avon) and Box Clever Marketing.

Divine Inspiration have spent the last 18 months working with James Kerr, a nationally acclaimed photographer living in Warwickshire, himself soon to publish an eagerly awaited book of his recent photographic work featuring churches across our county. Warwickshire Life have been highlighting the work of James and Divine Inspiration in its pages for the past year.

Helen McGowan from Divine Inspiration says “We are looking for winners in two categories and we invite budding photographers of all ages and abilities to take part. The only restrictions are that the pictures need to feature churches or churchyards in Coventry or Warwickshire. As well as a classic ‘Church View’ entry we are actively encouraging quirky shots so photographers can be as creative as they like about what they capture.

“The closing date for entries is August the 31st 2008 so this gives budding photographers out there a window of opportunity over the holiday period to get snapping!”

The announcement of the winning entries will be made at a presentation evening to be held on the 27th of November in the magnificent Holy Trinity church in Stratford upon Avon. The judging panel will comprise of James Kerr, Lucy Woodman of Box Clever, Colin Clarke, the editor of Warwickshire Life and Bishop John Stroyan, Bishop of Warwick.

The winning entries will be featured in subsequent editions of Warwickshire Life.

Entry forms and Terms and Conditions for the competition can be found and downloaded from the Ambassador page of the Divine Inspiration website and in future editions of Warwickshire Life.
