St Paul’s Church, Stockingford will be hosting a ‘First Resort’ event on Monday 7th September in the Church Centre from 10 am – 12 noon, followed by a sandwich lunch.
‘First Resort’ is offered by WorkCare, Coventry & Warwickshire to support those who have been made redundant, face the possibility of redundancy or perhaps are facing a change of job role or considering new directions.
‘First Resort’ offers a ‘listening ear’ as well as practical advice, signposting and support. There is also a computer link to JobCentre Plus. The WorkCare team will be joined on the day by Nextsteps who will offer advice on local training opportunities, CV writing, completion of job application forms and general careers advice. The role of WorkCare’s chaplaincy team is to care for those at work and also those who are no longer working.
Kay Aldersley, Development Officer, said “The churches in Coventry and Warwickshire want to support and encourage people who are facing challenging times and making difficult decisions. ‘First Resort’ is a model designed to offer support to people in the heart of their local community.”
St Paul’s Church has recently undergone a complete refurbishment and offers a great community space in their hall and Church Centre. The venue is perfect for ‘First Resort’ sessions which are informal and welcoming. Previously sessions have also been held in churches in Longford, Coventry and Alcester as well as other venues around Coventry and Warwickshire.
