The Bishop of Coventry writes:
In consultation with the various officers concerned I am planning some reorganisation of responsibilities within the Department for Ministry. With effect from September, Dr Richard Cooke will be working on the development of a modular Certificate in Christian Discipleship, open to all who wish to firm up their basic understanding of the Christian faith. Details of this will be made available over the summer. This new initiative will be developed in close collaboration with Roger Spiller, the Director of Ministry, and Roger Morris the Director of Parish Development and Evangelism.
In addition, Richard will become the Local Ministry Officer with responsibility for the encouragement, training and mentoring of Ministry Leadership Teams, as well as continuing his in role as CME officer.
In the autumn I shall be looking to appoint a part-time officer for Initial Ministerial Education 4-7 (POT officer in old money!) This post will be linked to a parochial appointment.
Penny Hughes, who has led the Diocesan Vocations Team with great distinction for the past few years, will be relinquishing this post in the autumn. We are hugely grateful for all that Penny has done to develop this vital ministry. It gives me great pleasure to announce that this work will be taken over by Susan Mileham, from St Mark’s Leamington, with effect from 1st September.
