ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY TO VISIT COVENTRY
____________________________________________
Bishop Christopher made the following announcement at Diocesan Synod on Saturday 6 November:
“I am delighted to announce to Synod that the Archbishop of Canterbury has accepted the Dean’s invitation to preach at the Golden Jubilee service on 25th May to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the consecration of the new Cathedral. Moreover, the Archbishop will be incorporating that great celebration into a Diocesan visit, and so will be with us over the whole of the Pentecost Weekend from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th May. It will be an historic time for the Diocese of Coventry. We are at the earliest stages of discussion with Lambeth Palace about the programme for the Archbishop’s visit and I look forward to being able to tell Synod more at our March meeting.”

CHURCHES CHALLENGED TO SEE IN THE NEW YEAR WITH PRAYER
___________________________________________
A call has gone out for churches to welcome in 2012 with prayer. With the 2012 Games, the Olympic Torch Relay, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, and the Euro 2012 Football, next year offers many opportunities for churches to reach out to their communities.
The initiative, called 'Shine for the New Year', is being coordinated by More Than Gold, an agency set up by all the main denominations to help churches make the most of the Olympics and Paralympics.
