New Safeguarding Training and Support Officer

Hello, My name is Sophie Hawtin and I am the new Safeguarding Training and Support Officer. Originally from Manchester, I moved to Coventry around a decade ago to study and never looked back. Professionally, I have spent the last 7 years working at a local secondary school, most recently in a pastoral role. I loved working in education as no two days are the same and it certainly kept me on my toes!

I attend Christian Life Ministries Church (also known as CLM) and it is my privilege to be involved in the worship, youth and pastoral support ministries there. I have been a part of the safeguarding team at CLM for many years and particularly enjoy training new volunteers.

My knowledge of and passion for safeguarding has been developed and honed in both my professional and voluntary roles and I have a particular passion for the role that churches play in safeguarding our communities. This is one of the reasons I am so excited to be joining the team here at the Diocese.

My contact details are sophie.hawtin@coventry.anglican.org and my work number is 07398186353.

Sarah Price, Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser says:

"We are delighted to welcome Sophie as part of the Diocesan Safeguarding Team.

Sophie’s role will be key in developing the changes to safeguarding learning & development and how this impacts the overall culture of safeguarding within the diocese.

We are excited to have Sophie join us in the diocese, please pray for her as she settles into her new role."
