Introduction

Philip Carver
‘It’s the economy stupid’ so Bill Clinton was reputed to have said when asked what the most important thing was when it came to winning the 1992 US presidential election (he won!!).
Well it’s the economy of the Diocese that is the chief concern of the Diocesan Finance Department.
Located snuggly at the top of the Diocesan offices in Priory Row we handle all matters concerning Diocesan (but not Cathedral) finance. These include:
- Calculating, notifying and collecting the Parish Share
- Banking of cash receipts
- Paying invoices and expenses
- Budgetting
- Annual Statutory and Management Accounts
- Salaries and Pensions
- Parochial returns
- Statistics
- Queries from and advice to Parishes on parochial finance matters
- Accounting for the Diocesan Board of Education
- Clergy Stipends
As with a number of other areas of the Diocesan administration we are covered by the joint working arrangements with Leicester Diocese.
