A. Churchyard Memorials: Chancellor's Regulations
The Chancellor of the Diocese has issued new Regulations governing churchyard memorials to replace those of 1994.
They include: -
1. Memorials which may be authorised by incumbents without a faculty under delegated powers from the Chancellor
2. Memorials for which a faculty is required
3. Designs and features not permitted
4. Flowers
5. Gardens of Remmbrance: -
- Creation
- Memorial plaques
- Re-use
B. Faculty applications to install a memorial not consistent with the Chancellor's Regulations
The Faculty application form and a cheque for £152.63 (as at 1 January 2008) payable to the appropriate firm of solicitors should be sent to: -

The Leicester Diocesan Chancellor has issued guidance on memorial safety in churchyards and public cemeteries followign recent developments - this is applicable to Coventry and Leicester Dioceses. The guidance can be downloaded below.
The Local Government Ombudsman has also produced a report on Memorial Safety in Cemeteries and his report is downloadable below.
