The current answer is I suspect to be a bridge. Many youth groups are set up by churches with a view to introducing young people to Christ, however we can all lose the way a little. As an outsider, it is much easier for me to get the young people talking about faith issues. So please, if you've hit a point when you feel you can't bring God up, yet still dearly wish to introduce the young people to Christ get in touch with me on 079 67 662 184, and I'll see if I can help. (I think I've got the best job in the world!)
The following may be of some interest...
Diocesan Mobile Youth Cafe
Finally the cafe is ready! it's been MOTd and serviced, painted and refitted and now we are ready to hit the road. The purpose is for the cafe to be used in support of Anglican Churches who wish to reach out to the young people who gather outside of their doors. I'm really hoping to use much of this summer to travel with the van around Coventry and Warwickshire engaging with young people. Already we have bookings in Wolston, Kineton and Bishops Tachbrook but we want the van used 7 days a week. If you want to know more give me a call on 079 67 662 184. We are asking the churches provide a driver either experienced in driving large vehicles or willing to be trained.
Mission to night clubbers
We are hoping to relaunch Talking Space, the Diocesan mission to clubbers, in the centre of Coventry. At Talking Space, we offer free hot drinks and a listening service to clubbers between the hours of 12-3am on Sunday nights/Saturday mornings. Talking Space has been life changing for many of the people who pass through its gates. However, we had to stop in the Autumn as we desperately needed new team members. If you want to find out more there is a meeting at St John the Baptist Church, on the corner of Spon Street in the city centre this coming Monday 9th June, at 8pm. Alternatively you could reply to this email. Talking Space is one of the most worthwhile mission opportunities I've ever encountered, but it needs help.
Can you skate?
Steve, the new senior youth worker at Forest of Arden Youth For Christ, is really keen to use much of the summer break, hanging out with local skaters and hopefully having some really good conversations. He is based in South Warwickshire, trouble is Steve really needs to find at least one other Christian youth worker who can skate or else he's scuppered! Please contact him at www.foayfc.co.uk if you can help.
South Warwickshire Youth Network
Just a reminder that the next South Warwickshire Youth Network Worship service will be on Saturday 14th June, 7.30 - 9.00pm at Soli House, Mill Lane in Stratford. All are welcome! It would be great to see you there for worship, teaching, fun and games, the Helen and Mem show, the Comfy Chair and hot chocolate to follow!! For more info please contact Matt Brown [matt@follower.fsnet.co.uk]
Caris Magazine (girls only!)
Are the girls in your youth group missing out? Jo Keys (Coventry YFC) has asked me to promote a brilliant new(ish) magazine aimed at supporting Christian teenage girls. The summer issue is just out with interviews with Leona Lewis (Sports Relief) an article on Prince Caspian (shortly to hit the cinemas) and the true life story of Christina Corp who was miraculously healed after a horrific accident.
