| Youth Work... The Mail Out | 9th May 2008 | Download | Email to a Friend |
The talk itself appeared to be well received but I had to leave very soon afterwards. On the following Monday I received a call from a Reader at Bideford. Having heard stories from elsewhere it had been decided to start a detached project in Bidford! To go out and get to know the young people who gather in groups (in the town centre) and to build, hopefully, God centred friendships with them. Hopefully I will be able to help them with starting out.
12 months ago I would never have dreamed that we would be seeing detached youth projects in such diverse places as Bedworth, Allesley, Kenilworth and Bideford on Avon. Perhaps God is up to something!
Get in touch if you'd like to start a project where you live...
Schools work
I have discovered a great new Schools Ministry Network, which has been set up for 6 months, with already 370 members. Its well worth a look...(www.schoolswork.co.uk <http://www.schoolswork.co.uk>)
Stories With Significance
<http://www.schoolswork.co.uk/events> is a one day training event in collaboration with Youthwork the partnership, to take us deeper into the wonderful world of storytelling and it's ability to captivate our audiences, whether that's a school assembly, a church service, or a group of young people on the street. It's taking place in 4 locations around the country (London, Bristol, Manchester and E.Midlands) throughout June & July. Each day will run from 10am-4pm and will encourage self belief in storytelling, how to develop stories from your own experience, engaging young people with the Biblical story, storytelling technique, translating skills to your particular audience, and much more!
South Warwickshire Youth Event
The next South Warwickshire Youth Network Worship service will be on Saturday 17th May, 7.30 - 9.00pm at Soli House, Mill Lane in Stratford. All are welcome!
We are privileged this time to have Tim Alford, lead singer of the band '[dweeb]' with us to speak.
The event is getting better and better, so it would be great to see you there for worship, teaching, fun and games, the Helen and Mem show, the Comfy Chair and hot chocolate to follow!!

Youth Work after Christendom
Jo and Nigel Pimlott are launching their new book aimed at new ways of working with young people in a world that is changing fast. The book will suggest that we are living in a time when the church is no longer seen as having the right to have its message heard. the book is resplendent (!) with stories and ideas. There is a launch event on the 8th July from 11-3pm at Anthony Collins Solicitors Birmingham, the event costs £17.50 per head but this includes seminars from the likes of Stuart Murray, Richard Passmore, Sally Nash and Dave Wiles, plus a copy of the book.
