As I wander around the town centres of Warwickshire, meeting up with Youth Workers, I cannot help but notice the empty shop units that are appearing in previously unlikely places. This morning I had a chat with a Big Issue seller who is only managing to sell around 4 copies a day. This recession is hurting people, and as Youth Workers we must recognise that this is the world our young people are growing up into.......... (more...) |

Over the last weekend, I visited a couple of projects that have been set up by churches to engage with young people who gather on the streets, these projects are aimed at helping the teenagers to ask some of life's big questions, ultimately so that they might engage with Jesus. (more...) |

Those of you who regularly read this mail out will know that up until a couple of weeks ago I had been struggling under the weight of completing my Youth Work tasks whilst studying for ordination. I'm sure that those of you who are currently studying for the likes of CYM (Centre for Youth Ministry) qualifications or desperately trying to hold on to your jobs due to the credit crunch will recognise that working to tight deadlines can mean that we don't always operate as we should in other areas, priorities can become compromised and we can forget that which is most important. Thank you! Last Thursday evening we held the launch of our Youth Evangelism Fund, in Bedworth. The event was a great success and I was astonished that people turned out from places such as Ettington and Shipston to go all the way to Bedworth on a Thursday (school) night. (more...) |
