| Sometimes in my role as Youth Officer I get surprised by a fantastic piece of Youthwork coming out of what I had thought to be unlikely places. A couple of weeks ago I had never heard of 'GFS' The Girls Friendly Society. On Wednesday evening I visited one of their groups (quite scary for a man!) in Atherstone. To be fair the name sounded off putting, however, I found a really awesome piece of youthwork taking place. The leaders of this group are working hard to instil in these girls a worldview that places God first, friends second and self last (GFS) with trips and camps galore. Sadly there is currently only one branch of the society in our area. I left the meeting wishing there was more... (more...) |
