The Diocesan Children’s Team
The Diocesan Children’s Team is made up of the following volunteers:
David Wilson, Dawn O’Connell, Celia Hare, Denise Moore, Caroline Welby and Kate Gardner
IMPORTANT NEWS
As part of her dissertation, Kate Hayward is conducting a study of 8-11s work in Coventry Diocese. Please help this poor uni student with her work by filling in her short(ish!) survey. In return you get a really funky resources pack, including a whole load of resources to help plan for Christmas! The survey can be found at http://homepage.mac.com/messyisgood/.Public/ChildrenQuestionnaire.doc.
What are we here for?
No matter how many children you have in your church, the Diocesan Children’s Team is here to help. The team exists to resource and encourage churches with their children’s work in new, innovative and exciting ways. At the moment we encourage churches to engage with the following initiatives:
Children and Communion
We encourage all churches to enable their younger members to take communion, and have the resources to make it easy for you! If you haven’t already jumped on this very worthy bandwagon, then please do contact us!
The Child Friendly Church Award
The Child Friendly Church Award was invented in Liverpool as a way for parishioners to identify child friendly churches. Some very enthusiastic people will come and visit you and listen as you identify all the wonderful children’s work that happens in your church. We also ask you to identify the parts that as a church you would like to improve, and reward you for your efforts! It is possible for any church to gain this award, and we have a big bag full of award certificates to give out, so please get in touch!
The Great Diocesan Resource Cupboard
Over the years, the diocese has collected a rather large cupboard full of children’s resources, including lesson plans, musical instruments and some rather funky games! We’ll get a full list of items on the website soon, in the mean time please do contact us if you fancy a rummage.
Join our mailing list
We are hoping to start an email mailing list to keep people up to date about what’s happening in the diocese. Please email your contact details to Ruth.Wagstaffe@CovCofE.org if you would like to be part of this.
Let us visit you
As a team we have plenty of ideas of things that we can do to resource and encourage churches, but what we’d really like to do is hear your ideas. Why not let us visit you to see how we can benefit you?
