The Bishop's Council
Under the Synodical Government Measure 1969 the diocesan synod has made standing orders providing for a bishop’s council and standing committee of the synod.
The functions of the Bishop’s Council shall be:
- To plan the business of the Synod, to prepare the agenda for its sessions and to circulate to members information about matters for discussion.
- To initiate proposals for action by the Synod and to advise it on matters of policy which are placed before it.

To advise the President on any matters which he may refer to the Bishop’s Council
- Subject to the directions of the Synod to transact the business of the Synod when it is not in session.
- To appoint members of committees or nominate members for election to committees subject to the directions of the Synod.

To act as the Board of Directors of the Coventry Diocesan Board of Finance Ltd

To act as the Diocesan Mission and Pastoral Committee.

To carry out such other functions as the Synod may delegate to it.

Diocesan Pastoral and Mission Committee
Every diocese has a Diocesan Mission and Pastoral Committee under the Diocese, Pastoral and Mission Measure 2007.
In the diocese of Coventry the Bishop’s Council is the Diocesan Mission and Pastoral Committee.
It is the duty of the Mission and Pastoral Committee to make or assist in making better proision for the cure of souls in the diocese, and from time to time to review the arrangements for pastoral supervision in the diocese, (including sharing agreements in respect of a church or parsonage house and any proposals for sharing agreements) and where they consider it desireable to make recommendations to the Bishop.
